Lean auto practices drives Jaguar Land Rover’s net-zero ambition
By cutting overall trash and slashing landfill use, while dramatically boosting recycling, Jaguar Land Rover is taking major steps toward a greener future.
Freeing up space for more charging points at Jaguar Land Rover
By partnering with Mil-tek to optimize trash handling, Jaguar Land Rover discovered multiple benefits.
One added advantage: removing the skip created space to more than double the number of EV charging stations.

See How They Did in this Video
With over 60 years of history, Jaguar Land Rover Ribblesdale has proudly sold and serviced vehicles for satisfied customers. When a key team member recognized the need to improve trash handling, they reached out to Mil-tek for guidance.
The old setup relied on a large open skip behind the building for all trash. Technicians would walk around back to dump materials – an inefficient, time-consuming, and unsustainable process. The skip itself was exposed to weather, occupied significant space, and created an unsightly view. Watch the video to see the full story.

Trash Hauling Trips
Time spent hauling trash across the workshop was flagged as a key inefficiency for technicians. Mil-tek’s solution was to eliminate the central skip and introduce several pneumatic balers across the facility.
Locating the systems close to technicians not only streamlined their work but also reduced the spaces tied up in trash handling. Because the machines run on compressed air, they were simple to install in compact spaces directly adjacent to work areas.

Proven Efficiency Gains
By installing the Mil-tek systems directly in the workshop, efficiency improvements became clear. Technicians no longer lost time walking to distant disposal points, and one technician’s performance increased by 7%, significantly raising his billable hours.
On average, the team measured efficiency gains of 3–5%, a tangible result that highlights the real savings and performance benefits of the Mil-tek system.

Minimizing Tash Volumes
The primary goal of the project was to minimize trash – and that goal has been achieved along with several other benefits. By installing the equipment directly within the work environment, operators were naturally guided to place recyclables in the baler and non-recyclables in the compactor.
This approach not only reduced trash volumes but also drove a substantial decline in landfill disposal and a sharp rise in recycling performance.
